Web Developer

UNCG Online at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro is seeking a highly motivated front-end web developer with at least one year of experience to help build interactive websites, learning aids, educational activities, and marketing sites for online courses utilizing JavaScript, PHP, and WordPress in a LAMP environment. The candidate should have experience in developing and testing for multiple platforms, experience in developing responsive WordPress themes utilizing Advanced Custom Fields, experience in developing WordPress plugins, experience in building database driven websites based on a provided design, and experience in developing standalone web applications utilizing Angular. The candidate should also possess good interpersonal skills, an eye for design, and a strong desire to learn and seek out new technologies. Duties include front-end and back-end development.

The successful candidate will be responsible for: building sites based on Illustrator designs; WordPress site administration, theme and plugin development, troubleshooting, and support; creative development and maintenance of online course websites, interactive learning activities, and multimedia motion graphics assets; assisting the design team to promote best practices in usability and keeping pace with current web trends; developing websites, landing pages, banner ads, brochures, and print advertisements for the UNCG Online marketing team; testing cross-browser, cross-platform, and/or cross-device compatibility for inconsistencies; some server administration in a Linux environment.

Required skills include PHP, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, MySQL, and AJAX development; WordPress site deployment and administration; being well versed in Advanced Custom Fields for WordPress; experience in developing WordPress plugins; experience in developing responsive layouts using a grid system such as Bootstrap; experience in using a version control system such as Git; Illustrator knowledge for slicing of images to build websites; working knowledge of OOP; experience in a LAMP environment; strong communication skills. The following skills are not required but would be beneficial: UI/UX development; mobile development; jQuery plugin authoring; server administration; Codeigniter experience or related PHP framework.

A Bachelor’s degree is required.
