Counseling Center Director

Provides leadership, vision and oversight of services provided by the Counseling Center; supervises and evaluates staff; provides assessments, short-term individual counseling, crisis intervention, and group therapy; serves as mental health consultant to the campus community and works collaboratively across the University.


PhD in counseling or clinical psychology; at least five years of recent clinical experience including a minimum of three years in a college or university counseling center with partial or fulltime administrative duties; and a current Iowa license or ability to attain a license within one year of hired required. Demonstrated experience working with and appreciation for diverse student populations; supervision experience in a college or university counseling center or comparable mental health setting; experience in the development of counseling and mental health services and programs in a university setting, including assessment, quality improvement, and use of data to inform decision-making; experience developing group counseling, outreach and adult programs; expertise in crisis intervention and management; and an affinity for working in an interdisciplinary team preferred.  Criminal and other relevant background checks required.
