Tenure-track Assist Profs, School of Counseling & Special Educ: Counselor Educ (Two Positions)

Position Title:    Full-time, Tenure-track Assistant Professors in the School of Counseling and Special Education with a specialization in Counselor Education. (Two Positions)

                                                     

Primary Function:    Teaching, scholarship, and service in CACREP accredited Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling programs. One (1) position with major responsibility for school counselor preparation and one (1) position with a specialization in preparing clinical mental health counselors.

The CACREP accredited counseling programs at Bowling Green State University are housed within the College of Education and Human Development. We prepare students across two programs, MEd in School Counseling and MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Counseling programs are delivered in-person at our main campus in Bowling Green, OH.

Clinical Mental Health & School Counseling Programs

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

            1.   Teach graduate level courses in counseling, and supervision of practicum and internship.

            2.   Provide leadership in master’s level counselor preparation in the program of Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling  through teaching, professional service, and research.

            3.   Take an active role in the recruitment and retention of graduate students.

            4.   Serve as a consultant to various schools and community agencies in the university service area.

            5.   Provide leadership to professional counselors.

            6.  Maintain a systematic record of research productivity.

            7.   Contribute to the School, College, University, and the Profession through select service activities.

            8.   Perform other duties and responsibilities normally associated with faculty appointments in a major university.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

1.   Earned doctorate in counselor education from a CACREP-accredited program. Candidates who are ABD at time of application may be considered. Degree must be conferred prior to appointment in August 2022.

2.   Licensed/Certified as a School Counselor or Licensed Professional Counselor.

3.   Experience as a School Counselor or a Clinical Mental Health Counselor.

4.   Demonstrated commitment to scholarly activities including research, publications, presentations at professional conferences, and grant writing.

 

           

Preferred Qualifications:

Documentation of effective teaching

Experience with CACREP reaccreditation process

Coordination of field placements

Experience supervising counselors in training

 

Rank and Salary:   Assistant Professor.  Salary is commensurate with level of experience.
