As a member of the Security Operations Center (SOC) team the IT Security Analyst assists in monitoring, enforcing and auditing security policies and procedures which safeguard the integrity of and access to University systems.
Job Description
Responsibilities
The IT Security Analyst enforces and audits security policies and procedures which safeguard the integrity of and access to University systems. Execute security improvement projects; maintain knowledge of changing information security threats and technologies; respond to tickets received by the Security Operation Center (SOC); provide recommendations for adaptation of new technologies, procedures, or policies; investigate security incidents; perform computer forensics studies and maintain incident tracking records. Prepare status reports on security matters; implement security risk analyses; keep management informed of risks and critical issues that might affect clients or University security objectives. Provide backup and support to SOC team members during incident response and consultation with University constituencies.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other related field and a minimum of one year of IT security work or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Hands on experience in a security operations center or similar role preferred. Demonstrated ability to learn new technical tools and to execute tasks independently with good attention to detail required. Experience in higher education IT environments or other consensus driven decision making environments preferred. Ability to deal confidentially with people at all levels of the organization
