Vice President of Strategic Enrollment Management

University of St. Thomas
Vice President of Strategic Enrollment Management

The University of St. Thomas invites nominations and applications for the position of Vice President of Strategic Enrollment Management. St. Thomas seeks a visionary and innovative leader with a strong ability to build facilitative and supportive relationships throughout the University community in support of the achievement of bold enrollment goals.

Founded in 1885 by Archbishop John Ireland, St. Thomas first opened as the St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary to serve the region’s growing immigrant population. The University’s mission, inspired by Catholic intellectual tradition, is to educate students to be morally responsible leaders who think critically, act wisely, and work skillfully to advance the common good. St. Thomas is the largest private university in Minnesota and a top 20 national Catholic university, with aspirations to rise higher. Today, the University has approximately 1,000 staff, 425 full-time faculty, 344 part-time faculty, and about 10,000 students representing 41 states and 92 countries — about 60% of whom are undergraduates. St. Thomas sits in the heart of the thriving Minneapolis-St. Paul Metro area with a vibrant cultural and corporate community.

As outlined in the ambitious 2025 Strategic Plan, St. Thomas is at a distinct point in its history — poised to expand its reach across the country and to build a national reputation. In the next decade, St. Thomas will take its well-earned, outstanding reputation in Minnesota to a larger geographic footprint. Raising money for scholarships is a top institutional priority. In 2017, St. Thomas announced the goal of raising $200 million towards scholarships to support educational excellence, increase access, and reduce student debt; $100 million has been raised towards this goal so far.

This is a significant leadership position with the opportunity to greatly impact the enrollment trajectory of St. Thomas. The University seeks an enrollment leader who will expand the institution's reach to prospective students regionally and nationally, while constantly striving to support access and diversity in all its forms. The next Vice President will be a strong and thoughtful leader with a proven record of success; an entrepreneurial spirit; exceptional analytic, interpersonal, and communication skills; and the enthusiasm to partner with the President, Provost, other university leaders, and students as an ambitious plan for St. Thomas’ future is executed. The successful candidate will be a skilled leader with the ability to motivate a dedicated team and foster enthusiasm for change. The Vice President will embrace the best use of current technology in the execution of an enrollment strategy that is forward-looking, statistically informed, and focused on continuous improvement.
