Dean of Herberger Business School

St. Cloud State University (SCSU) and the Herberger Business School (HBS) seek a visionary dean to lead a high performing faculty dedicated to innovation, achievement and student success.

SCSU is part of the Minnesota State System, which is the largest single provider of higher education in the state with 37 institutions, including seven state universities and 30 community and technical colleges. St. Cloud State University is one of the largest and most diverse public universities in Minnesota, serving more than 13,000 students from 45 states including Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico, and 96 different countries. The university recently celebrated its 150th anniversary, its sesquicentennial celebration, in 2019. The dean of the Herberger Business School reports to the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs and assumes responsibility for overall academic leadership and management of the School which includes supervision of faculty and staff. The dean plays a pivotal role in setting strategic direction for the School that aligns with the University’s It’s Time strategy, strengthening current programs and developing new initiatives and enhancing instruction and scholarship.

The dean is responsible for advancing the It’s Time mission and strategic plan of the University by creating and maintaining an infrastructure that fosters high quality academic programs and by building strong and collaborative relationships within the School and with internal and external partners. The dean is responsible for the fiscal health of the School, which includes administering the budget and raising external funds. As the chief academic officer of the School, the dean is responsible for ensuring successful faculty recruitment and professional development, and maintaining accreditation requirements in academic programs. The dean will serve as a member of the Provost’s leadership team and will work collaboratively with other college/school deans and administrators to develop innovative and robust interdisciplinary programs. The next dean should be an experienced academician and administrator with a deep understanding and knowledge of student success, enrollment, innovative programming and faculty recruitment and development. The ideal dean has experience in external resource generation through industry partnerships, alumni engagement and development and fundraising. The ideal candidate should have a terminal degree in a discipline within HBS and be able to meet the requirements of full professor. It is expected that candidates will have a proven record of success as an academic and administrative leader with supervisory experience equivalent to that of chair or higher.
