Vice President of Business Affairs/Chief Financial Officer

VICE PRESIDENT OF BUSINESS AFFAIRS/CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

MARIST COLLEGE

Poughkeepsie, New York

Marist College, an independent, comprehensive institution with a strong liberal arts tradition, seeks a visionary financial leader as their next Vice President of Business Affairs/Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The world of higher education is changing quickly, and Marist expects to be a driving force in addressing these changes. To help Marist succeed in this endeavor, the College seeks a CFO who is strategic, entrepreneurial, collaborative, and transparent, who will bring innovative ideas for new initiatives and support and evaluate existing programs with skilled analysis, recommendations, and financing strategies for the College’s long-term vision. Joining a new president, the CFO will provide leadership for all financial, budgetary, accounting, investment, and risk management aspects of the College. In addition to exciting new leadership, Marist boasts a healthy financial position, strong academic programs, and a community dedicated to supporting students in a distinctive educational experience that positions graduates for both success and service.

Located in the scenic and historic Hudson River Valley in Poughkeepsie, New York, the College has transformed since its founding in 1929. What was once a small training ground for Marist Brothers has evolved into a complex educational institution with a global reach. With state-of-the-art facilities, a spectacular campus only a 95-minute train ride from New York City, and a branch campus in Florence, Italy, Marist’s approximately 6,400 students have nearly limitless opportunities. The 240 full-time and 317 part-time faculty members work across seven academic schools to provide education that is grounded in the liberal arts and focused on preparing students for successful and fulfilling lives and careers. Although the College is an independent institution governed by a lay board of trustees, it continues to embrace the ethical underpinnings and culture of the Marist Brothers as an important part of its history and identity.

Reporting to the President and serving as a member of the President’s Cabinet, the CFO oversees the Budget and Financial Planning Office, Controller’s Office, Purchasing, Bookstore, and post-awards grants administration. Charged with developing the approximately $220M annual operating budget, the CFO will also partner closely with the Executive Vice President on planning and budgetary matters, serve as liaison to external auditors, the College’s investment manager, and the Finance and Audit Committees of the Board of Trustees.

Marist College has retained Isaacson, Miller, a national executive search firm, to assist in the recruitment of its next CFO. Please direct all applications, nominations, and inquiries – which will remain confidential – to the search firm electronically at: www.imsearch.com/8309
