The George Mason University College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) invites applications for the position of Senior Director of Advancement. The Senior Director of Advancement, CEC is the first senior director role within the newly approved College and will serve as the chief fundraising officer and be responsible for all activities related to identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of annual, major, and planned gifts from alumni, friends, and institutions.

The position collaborates closely with the central University Advancement team, which provides resources and strategic counsel, and uniform metrics to help drive results within the schools and across the University. The Senior Director provides counsel to the Dean of the College and faculty on advancement matters, sets the philanthropic strategy annually, and helps to organize and set the College’s philanthropic priorities in order to maximize external support. The position reports dually to the Dean of the College of Engineering and Computing and the Associate Vice President of Development, Schools, and Colleges.

The newly approved College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) at George Mason University is comprised of the Volgenau School of Engineering and a new School of Computing. The College is a fast-growing force for innovation in research and education. Ranked nationally in the top 100 in both undergraduate and graduate education, the College boasts more than 9,100 students, over 271 faculty, and 35 undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degree programs, including several first-in-the-nation offerings. As part of a nationally ranked research university, its research teams expended more than $75 million in sponsored research awards since November 2020 and has projects with over $400 million in current and anticipated awards.
