Assistant Director of Need Analysis
The primary focus of the Assistant Director of Need Analysis is to provide supervision to the Verification Area, including three full-time classified employees, three to four student employees, and one temporary staff, when needed. Specific responsibilities include investigating and resolving potential discrepancies between FAFSA data and outside agencies, such as U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Selective Service, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and Social Security Administration. The incumbent safeguards receipt of sensitive materials including IRS tax transcripts, W-2 forms, birth certificates, and citizenship documents and monitors timeliness of manual system updates and file processing. This individual assists with processing, when needed, informs staff of timelines for verification processes, and manages record retention policies and archival procedures in compliance with federal regulations. This position manages the OnBase system which includes developing, identifying/resolving issues, and managing document processing and storage. They also write and review OBI reports trouble-shooting FAFSA loading issues and identify necessary FAFSA revisions. Coordinates report distribution and review with other University departments for verification-related processes. Evaluates work of others to determine timely and accurate completion. Develops SQL and changes in programming necessary for annual USDE updates to FAFSA processing. Participates in professional development opportunities to stay abreast of federal changes and necessary system updates. Informs and trains staff on processing changes and timelines.
Provide direct counseling to an assigned alpha load of students and parents on all financial aid and scholarship matters. Counseling includes explanation of types and terms of aid, affordability, costs, repayment, Satisfactory Academic Progress and financial literacy. For specified students, resolve federal student aid overawards, track eligibility for various types of financial aid and manage award revisions due to enrollment or campus changes.
Bachelor’s degree required by start date.
A minimum of three years of related work experience.
