This position is essential to ensure expert veterinary care within the University Laboratory Animal Resources (ULAR) group in the University and training of veterinary students, interns and residents in the Division of Laboratory Animal Medicine (DLAM) in the Department of Pathobiology. This recruitment is essential for ULAR and DLAM to fulfill their service commitment to the Department and the University and will replace a Staff Laboratory Animal Veterinarian in ULAR with an AC faculty member in Pathobiology. This commitment entails working as part of a 7-veterinarian and 13 veterinary technician team to provide veterinary care for a daily population of more than 120,000 animals belonging to 6 schools across approximately 16 ULAR-managed spaces and 30 satellite housing facilities. In addition to a daily census of more than 40,000 mouse cages and 1,000 rat cages, other species on the Philadelphia campus include 3 species of nonhuman primates, sheep, swine, dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, shrews, fish, frogs, and birds.
