Senior Vice Provost for Faculty Eminence

The Senior Vice Provost for Faculty Eminence will serve as a strategic advisor to the Executive Vice President and Provost of the University and provide leadership, vision, and strategic direction for a team to advance the faculty lifecycle for greater than 7,500 faculty. The Senior Vice Provost will set a bold vision and lead a transformational plan for faculty from prerecruitment through retirement.

 

The Senior Vice Provost will:

 

  • Provide senior leadership, strategy, direction, planning, and coordinating for the faculty lifecycle team including the following: Vice Provost for Academic Policy and Faculty Resources, and the Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning.
  • Lead strategic innovation for programs and rewards to support academic eminence through scholarship, research, and creative expression.
  • Articulate and implement a vison for faculty recruitment, onboarding, and a faculty cohort community that is consistent with the campus’s broader commitment to excellence, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belongingness.
  • Develop and implement an organizational structure and processes that enhances the attraction, onboarding, retention of all types (tenure-track, clinical/teaching/practice, associated) and ranks of faculty throughout the lifecycle of the faculty.
  • Support institutional efforts to hire 350 net new faculty.
  • Collaborate on University hiring initiatives such as the RAISE initiative.
  • Coordinate across the colleges and campuses the development and implementation of a faculty development program meeting all types and ranks of faculty needs throughout the lifecycle.
  • In collaboration with Human Resources, analyze the compensation policy for faculty and determine gaps that need addressed.
  • In collaboration with the Inclusive Excellence Team, develop access and inclusion for faculty, students, and staff to enrich campus life and the faculty experience.
  • Serve as the senate liaison for the Office of Academic Affairs and as the representative to the Senate Fiscal Committee.
  • Lead academic external program reviews
  • Serve in a liaison or policy/coordinative role to various entities across campus and throughout the higher education communities and lead a variety of new and continuing university-wide faculty initiatives.
  • Support university development and advancement activities
  • Establish and maintain a financial and operational environment that is focused on appropriate internal controls
  • In collaboration with the Academic Leadership team, develop Faculty Leadership Programs
  •  Lead and develop Faculty Fellow Programs for the Office of Academic Affairs
  • Develop a program for faculty prizes and awards
  • Lead faculty social networks (e.g., new faculty, faculty with young children)

 

 

 

 


Additional Information:
 

PhD degree required. Previous higher education experience and rank of professor at The Ohio State University and a record of significant scholarly accomplishments.

The candidate must be a visionary, collaborative, skilled and innovative leader with exceptional administrative financial and managerial skills, and proven experience in a dynamic and complex higher education environment. The candidate must be experienced in creating a diverse, inclusive, equitable, and belonging campus environment. Candidates must have broad knowledge of current faculty issues, collaborative strategies to facilitate the success of all faculty members.
