MCPHS (Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences) University seeks an experienced, thoughtful and agile human resources leader to serve as the next Chief Human Resources Operator (CHRO). Reporting to the Executive Vice President, the CHRO oversees human resources for a large, complex and diverse body of over 1200 faculty and staff. With the main campus in Boston’s Longwood Medical Area, and additional campuses in Worcester and in Manchester, NH, the CHRO works with and on behalf of educators, clinicians, practitioners, and staff in fields ranging from optometry to dental hygiene, nursing and acupuncture to pharmacy.

From its founding in 1823 to its current status as a leading-edge university specializing in health sciences, MCPHS University continues to be focused on shaping the healthcare landscape. Under the leadership of President Charles Monahan, MCPHS has experienced tremendous growth, and now has nine schools across the three campuses.

MCPHS has grown significantly in the last decade. With a total MCPHS employee count of approximately 1500 full and part time faculty and staff, the CHRO leads a staff of up to six human resources professionals and has responsibility for developing and executing a comprehensive human resource strategy in support of the overall business plan, mission, and strategic direction of the University. The CHRO functions as a strategic business partner and advisor to the University’s leadership team, focusing on problem solving, decision support, and leadership development.

Working with the University’s executive management to establish sound plans for workforce development, succession planning on all levels, performance management practices, and management training will be key initiatives for the new CHRO.

The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Administration, or a related field, as well as significant, senior-level business partner and team management experience with increasing responsibility in human resources within a higher education, hospital, or equally complex setting.
