Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations/President, Foundation at NJIT

NJIT is seeking a Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations/President, Foundation. He/she will be responsible for planning, initiating, directing, reporting and evaluating all fundraising for the university, including annual fund, capital fundraising and special purpose fundraising initiatives. The Vice President will provide direction and oversight of Alumni Relations and supervise the departments of Development and Alumni Relations.

 

As a member of senior management of NJIT, responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: initiate, develop and direct all private sector fundraising activities for the university, including but not limited to alumni, corporations, foundations and friends; plans and manages alumni programs and activities that have an impact on Foundation functions; plans and implements major and single purpose campaigns as authorized by the Board of Trustees of the university; provides professional advice and assistance to senior staff; as a member of the President's Cabinet, formulates appropriate policies and prepares recommendations for adoption; engages in individual prospect solicitation appointments and regional travel with the President; stewardship of NJIT’s Board of Overseers at its quarterly meetings; participation on the Trustees Joint Investment Committee and Advancement Committee; responsible for the preparation of the annual Development budget; oversees department’s records, which maintains constituent gift and contact information used for record keeping, reports, mailings and outreach; oversees stewardship of the scholarship program and its donors.

 

Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree is required, master’s preferred. Candidates should have at least ten years of experience and demonstrated achievement in fundraising, capital fund campaigns, prospect identification and cultivation and the organization of comprehensive programs of major gifts and private foundation grants. The ability to speak and write effectively is essential. Experience from higher education setting is preferred.
