THE SEARCH
The University of Wisconsin–Madison (UW-Madison), a public land-grant university committed to excellence in research, teaching and learning, and public service, seeks an accomplished and experienced individual to serve as its next Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration (VCFA). Reporting to the Chancellor, the VCFA is the chief financial officer of the university and serves as a strategic partner in developing and implementing operational policies, budget strategies, and revenue growth opportunities that allow the university to effectively support its core missions of research, education, and outreach.
Through a collaborative approach, clear communication, and commitment to engagement, diversity, and inclusion, the VCFA will work closely with constituencies across the university and the leadership team to fulfill the promise of the university’s public mission. The VCFA will oversee a broad portfolio of critical functions and services including budget and finance, human resources, building and facilities, risk management and internal controls, auxiliary operations, police, and other smaller units.
The successful candidate will be a change leader, implementing innovative uses of technology to strengthen essential university functions, and advancing growth strategies for raising revenue and enhancing the campus through the stewardship of campus’ buildings, lands, and ongoing construction projects. The VCFA will also be an adept navigator of complex institutions and will possess the political acumen needed to communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
