Virginia Tech: Senior Research Scientist

The Global Forum for Urban and Regional Resilience (Global Forum) seeks to hire a research scientist whose research interest is in critical infrastructure issues. This is a non-tenure track position. Candidates must be capable of working closely with others in the Forum to conduct research on the financial and socio-political dimensions of critical infrastructure. Applicants for the position must have an earned PhD, must have a demonstrated record in research and scholarship, and must be able to work collaboratively with others in the Global Forum and across campus on research programs. The candidate for this position must have demonstrated experience with serving as a principal investigator on extramurally funded research.

The Global Forum is a university organization that facilitates research and outreach on three resilience themes: socio-political, fiscal, and urban resilience. This new position is intended to advance a fourth area of research on infrastructure but in the context of the existing three themed areas. The Global Forum is not a degree-granting, nor teaching unit, but we do encourage our scientists to teach when it is desirable for their career and meets the goals of the Forum.
