Vice President for Student Success

Vice President for Student Success

Indiana University invites nominations and applications for the inaugural role of Vice President for Student Success (VPSS).

Founded in 1820, Indiana University is one of the top public research universities in the world. IU spans seven campuses, including core campuses in Bloomington and Indianapolis, two regional centers in Indiana, and partner locations around the globe. Innovation, creativity, and academic freedom are hallmarks of world-class contributions in research and the arts. The IU community represents a diverse cross-section of people from all backgrounds and cultures across current students, faculty, and staff, including more than 71,000 degree-seeking undergraduate students, more than 19,000 students in graduate and professional programs, and more than 21,000 faculty and staff.

Reporting directly to President Pamela Whitten and serving on the President’s cabinet, the Vice President for Student Success will identify areas of strategic opportunity to advance student success university-wide and will serve as the chief advocate for student interests in all aspects of decision making. The VPSS will align policies and practices across all IU campuses in the areas of student life and student conduct. The VPSS will also lead the assessment of organizational structures, personnel, and resources to elevate the student experience at IU, working in close collaboration with academic leadership.

The ideal candidate will be a student-centered, highly motivated leader with a deep knowledge of student life issues, best practices, and future trends; be adept at building consensus among multiple stakeholders on complex issues; have a successful track record in the areas of diversity, equity and inclusion; and care deeply about the student experience at the macro-level.
