Job Description Summary
This position reports directly to the Managing Director, Operations and oversees the forecasting, reporting, and analytical support for the Wharton Executive Education business units (Custom, Open Enrollment, LIVE, Online, and the Operations team). The analyst will work collaboratively with business unit senior management and their direct reports to accomplish accurate financial reporting that will facilitate and improve business decisions.

The Analyst will manage forecasts and ad hoc business reporting for approximately $100+M in revenue. Embedded within the Exec Ed org, the analyst will follow-up to ensure business development directors, program directors and others have accurately input data into Salesforce and other systems to allow for accurate revenue forecasting.

The analyst will also liaise with Wharton's F&A group to provide them with the same revenue forecasting data as well as other information that will allow F&A to correctly record revenue and expense in the university's GL. Using data from the GL and forecasting data from Salesforce, as well as data from the operator of Steinberg Conference Center (hotel and conference facility supporting in-person Executive Education) the analyst will complete comprehensive reporting for the Exec Ed business units and departments.

The analyst will work with Exec Ed senior management as well as F&A to help develop annual budgets and long range plans. While F&A will submit final budgets and narratives during the university's budgeting cycle, the analyst will work with the business units to develop the correct forecasting assumptions for revenue and expense that will be built into the annual budgets.

Job Description
  • Responsible for analyzing and reporting financial results. Responsible for ad hoc financial results reporting for each of the business units. Develop and continuously improve reporting based on business needs and to help improve the ability of the business units to make sound financial and business decisions. Analyze variances relative to budget and historical performance. Through data analysis and trending, help inform business decisions for the Exec Ed business units. Provide reports, tables, charts and other data as required by Vice Dean or Managing Directors for use in power points and other presentations.
  • Preparation and review of the Executive Education bi-monthly sales pipeline report for use by the WEE and F&A Senior Management to analyze sales trends.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in the use of Salesforce and other systems regarding financial information, both forecasted and actual, and key strategic drivers that are critical to the management of the business. Be an active team member in the implementation of any new technology systems to ensure they support the operational and reporting needs of the School and F&A.
  • Help to ensure the accuracy of data in the WEE systems such as Salesforce or Enlight. While not directly responsible for inputting this data into those systems, monitor output and collaborate with Directors in WEE as well as F&A to ensure that data input will inform accurate data reporting.
  • Work with WEE Senior Management as well as F&A to provide the data necessary to create WEE's budget for all business units.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in the use of querying and reporting tools including Business Objects and similar products to efficiently analyze, report, visualize, and communicate University and business unit data.

Bachelor's Degree required and 5 - 7 years of experience. Demonstrated strong financial, analytical, and modeling skills. Demonstrated decision making and problem solving ability as well as excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and customer service orientation. Ability to independently manage multiple projects from design through final presentation. Ability to work under demanding timelines. Ability to see the big picture while effectively analyzing details. Due to the client services nature of the business, ability to maintain a strong professional appearance is required.
