Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies

Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, is seeking applications and nominations for the position of Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies. The Associate Dean reports to the Chancellor and works closely with the senior leadership team of the college and University. The position has responsibility for strategic research program development, administration and growth of graduate programs, and oversees the college's contracts and grants office. The associate dean will lead the development and implementation of strategies for achieving the college's research goals, identify and communicate sources of external funding, facilitate and encourage innovation and entrepreneurship, work with the faculty to develop and write proposals, lead initiatives to write/develop strategic interdisciplinary college-wide sponsored research projects, establish internal and external research partnerships, and represent the college on a variety of University-wide councils and committees.

The ideal candidate will have a strong record of funded research, with experience in federal and private sector sponsored funding, specifically as principal investigator or project director; and knowledge of national funding issues and higher education policies. Candidates should possess a terminal degree and have significant administrative experience. Credentials appropriate for a tenured appointment at the rank of professor, preferably in a field of study offered at Penn State Behrend is desired. Salary is competitive.

Residents benefit from a rejuvenated bay-front district while enjoying a modest cost of living and affordable housing. There are five colleges in the area.
