Chief Business Officer

Goizueta Business School (GBS) of Emory University, a top-20 business school in the thriving cosmopolitan business city of Atlanta, seeks an accomplished and experienced higher education leader to serve as its Chief Business Officer (CBO).  Reporting to the Dean of Goizueta Business School, the VP for Finance/CFO and the Chief University Budget Officer/Vice Provost, the CBO will oversee and strengthen the school’s business and financial operations and strategic resource planning in support of the educational mission.  As a member of the Dean’s leadership team, the CBO will be a trusted partner to other senior leaders, faculty, and staff.

Named after the late Coca-Cola CEO Roberto C. Goizueta, one of the great business leaders of the 20th century, the Goizueta Business School at Emory University bases its principles and values on its namesake’s legacy, whose story of success involved courage, integrity and accountability, among other qualities that are outlined in the school’s core values.  The GBS community of faculty, staff, students and alumni is one that values innovation and creative thinking and aspires to reach even greater heights.  The next CBO will join GBS at the ground floor of a new strategic plan and reimagined campus footprint that will set an ambitious path forward for the school as it approaches its 100th anniversary.

The ideal candidate will be an effective leader, natural collaborator, and skilled communicator with a strategic, decision-enabling mindset and keen financial acumen who can effectively advise and partner with GBS leadership and key stakeholders.  The CBO should have experience with financial analysis and reporting, preferably in a higher education environment, with knowledge and/or experience of other operational areas, particularly facilities management, human resources and information technology. The ideal candidate should be committed to transparency and playing a visible and engaged role within the school and broader university.  S/he must also understand and support external partnerships that are critical to the educational mission.
