The Board of Trustees of Northampton Community College (NCC) announces the search for this respected institution’s fifth president. While acknowledging its legacy and affirming its successes, NCC seeks an entrepreneurial, creative visionary that can lead NCC through a time of transformation in higher education to reimagine its future as one of the leading community colleges in the nation.

 

The successful candidate will be one who is experienced, strategic, student-focused, and a champion for the college and the community. NCC’s next president will possess a deep knowledge of the national and local issues facing community colleges and the future of higher education. They will be an innovative collaborator committed to the principles of collegial and participatory governance; a savvy organizational leader who can motivate others to achieve outstanding results while serving as a catalyst for excellence within the institution.

 

Building on the accomplishments of its previous leaders, NCC’s next president will have the capability to elevate the college to greater levels of achievement while honoring its past and developing a compelling vision for its future. Applicants with substantial senior-level leadership experience in community colleges will be highly competitive. Extraordinary leaders from the four-year college and university sectors and other professional walks of life are strongly encouraged to become candidates.

 

It is preferred that the successful candidate hold a terminal degree; an advanced degree is required. The Board expects to announce the selection of its new leader in April 2022 to begin July 1, 2022.

 

Candidates are asked to submit electronically (in Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF) the following:

 

  • A letter of candidacy (addressed to Mr. Bruce Palmer, Northampton Community College Board of Trustees, Co-Chair, Presidential Search Committee) responding to the college’s list of desired attributes identifying the candidate’s experiences in the context of the opportunities for the new president.
  • A complete CV or resume.
  • A diversity statement that specifically describes contributions the candidate has made to foster a culture of equity and inclusion in work or community life. Candidates are encouragedto review the college's diversity statement and elaborate on how they would apply past experiences to advance the concepts within NCC's diversity statement.  
  • The names, phone numbers, and email addresses of five (5) references, none of whom will be contacted without permission of the candidate.
