The Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center at New Orleans (LSUHSC-NO) invites applications and nominations for the position of Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (VCAA). Reporting to the Chancellor of LSUHSC-NO, the VCAA oversees the academic affairs of the University, and is responsible for administration, service, management, and promotion of academic policies and programs for the University. 

 

LSUHSC-NO is the State of Louisiana’s flagship university educating the state’s health care professional. As a key member of the eight-institution Louisiana State University system, it is the leader in providing academic support and research for undergraduate and graduate students pursuing health care professions, including medicine, the state's only dental school, the only nursing school in Louisiana within an academic health center, allied health professions, the graduate school, and public health.

 

The successful candidate will bring strategic vision and proven management skills to this key leadership role in the University. The VCAA will be an accomplished academician in basic or health sciences with an MD, PhD or other terminal degree, a strong record of extramural funding and scholarly activity, a background in academic administration, and demonstrated success and creativity in fostering a collaborative culture, combined with outstanding interpersonal skills. The VCAA will promote the concept of an integrated academic health science center within which the academic enterprise aligns with the research and clinical enterprises in support of the comprehensive university mission. The VCAA is a key member of the Chancellor’s leadership team who will actively support a campus-wide culture of excellence, collaboration, transparency, and inclusion.
