The President of the Connecticut State College & Universities (CSCU) invites nominations and applications for the position of Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic & Student Affairs.

The Connecticut State Colleges & Universities provide affordable, innovative and rigorous programs for students to achieve their personal and career goals as well as contribute to the economic growth of Connecticut. CSCU appointed a new President, Terrence Cheng, in 2021, who in collaboration with the Board of Regents, CSCU system leadership, and its 17 member institutions is working to ensure the success and national prominence of the system. CSCU seeks in its next Provost a highly respected leader who will join CSCU as it pursues an ambitious strategic agenda of academic excellence, workforce development, and student success.

CSCU's distinctive characteristics:

  • Four state universities; 12 community colleges; & Charter Oak State College
  • Approximately 85,000 students enrolled; over 35% of the student body is diverse
  • 96% of enrolled CSCU students are CT residents; 35% of CT high school grads attend CSCU
  • CSCU institutions have conferred roughly 320,000 degrees & certificates since 1983
  • CSCU institutions have both the lowest sticker price and lowest net price for higher education in Connecticut

The Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs is CSCU's chief academic and student affairs officer. The Provost provides leadership and guidance for curricular, instructional, research, and student development among the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities, the seventeen (17) institutions governed by the Board. The Provost provides a deep connection to workforce development initiatives related to academic degree, certificate and credential programs across the system. The Provost reports directly to the President.

The successful candidate will demonstrate an earned doctorate, plus ten (10) years' experience at the senior administrative level at an institution, system, or agency of higher education with significant exposure to and participation in complex issues pertaining to academic programs and student services. The role will require visionary leadership, flexibility, outstanding communication and relationship building skills, a deep understanding of higher education finance and enrollment issues, experience with change management, a demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion, and personal and professional alignment with the mission, values, and culture of public higher education and a shared governance environment.
