Indiana University, one of the largest employers in the state of Indiana, invites nominations and applications for the position of Vice President for Human Resources (VPHR).

The Vice President for Human Resources will lead the IU Human Resources function across all campus locations. Reporting directly to President Pamela Whitten and serving on the President’s cabinet, the VPHR is responsible for programs and services that attract, develop, and retain IU employees in ways that align with the University’s overall mission, strategic objectives, and desired culture. The VPHR leads a team of 90 dedicated human resource professionals and manages an operating budget of $12 million.

The successful candidate must possess executive-level human resource experience and the creative and strategic ability to address complex human capital management and compliance issues across a large, multi-campus higher education research institution. They must have experience designing and implementing effective and efficient programs, policies, and services for a varied workforce operating in a decentralized environment. The next VPHR will also possess a proven track record of effective leadership on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Eleven-plus years of progressive experience as a senior leader of an enterprise-wide human resources function at a large, complex entity is required, with a strong preference for knowledge of the higher education environment, familiarity with the complexities of a research institution, and a demonstrated expertise in strategic human resource planning.
