DePauw University invites nominations and applications for the position of Vice President for Finance and Administration (VPFA).

The next VPFA will have a demonstrated record of superior strategic leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills, as well as an ability to develop effective relationships across multiple constituencies in a tight-knit community. Reporting to President Lori White, the VPFA will serve as a strategic thought partner and senior advisor to the President, be an accessible and dedicated institutional leader, and function as a critical member of the President’s highly collaborative and collegial cabinet. The VPFA routinely provides financial and operations updates to the Board and finance related Board committees including Business and Financial Affairs, Audit and Risk Management, Investments, and Buildings and Grounds and leads campus committees focused on strategic and prudent financial management. The VPFA will have responsibility for overseeing all fiscal, business, and administrative operations of the University including, but not limited to: finance and accounting, capital and operating budgets, purchasing, human resources, physical plant and facilities, and auxiliary services. The Vice President will serve as the University’s chief fiduciary officer and oversee all financial, regulatory compliance, human resources, and related legal issues, as well as work closely with the Board of Trustees.

DePauw’s operating budget is $121 million. The university’s endowment is $812 million as of September 30, 2021. Tuition, fees, room, and board for the 2020-21 academic year are $67,994. 57 percent of full-time undergraduates receive some kind of need-based financial aid, and the average need-based scholarship or grant award is $44, 693. The institution is also well-supported by alumni, donors, and friends. DePauw’s last fundraising campaign, The Campaign for DePauw, was the most successful in its history, ending in June 2019 with gifts and commitments totaling $383 million. The University has also had incredible success raising transformational 8-figure gifts. In FY 2020, DePauw raised $33 million in total philanthropic support.

A minimum of ten years of progressive financial management experience, preferably in a higher education or non-profit institution, is required. Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business, or related field and CPA licensure are strongly preferred.
