Siena Heights University (www.sienaheights.edu), seeks nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and a member of the executive leadership team, the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is responsible for the quality and vitality of the University’s undergraduate programs based in CAS. The Dean will provide leadership for the development and growth of undergraduate programs that serve the needs of our students and our world, while rooted in the mission and traditions of Siena Heights University. The new Dean will be open to innovation both in program development and modalities of program delivery, foster diversity and inclusion among faculty, staff and students, and support faculty and staff development. The Dean will work closely and collaborate with the Dean of Graduate Professional Studies to create synergies between the two Colleges.

The Dean of CAS will be a strategic, innovative, and collaborative leader who has:

  • an earned doctorate degree, terminal degree, or equivalent;

  • a demonstrated record of accomplishment in teaching, scholarship, service, and administration in higher education;

  • a record of successful teaching experience;

  • played a role in program growth;

  • experience with traditional and new pedagogies;

  • a commitment to the University’s mission and Catholic liberal arts education;

  • experience in influencing and executing strategic plans; and

  • outstanding communication, organizational and leadership skills.

Founded in 1919 and sponsored by the Adrian Dominican Sisters, Siena Heights is a Catholic university whose mission is to assist people to become more competent, purposeful, and ethical through a teaching and learning environment which respects the dignity of all. Enrolling a diverse community of traditional-age and working adult students, the University is a co-educational institution accredited by the Higher Learning Commission that was founded in the liberal arts tradition, offering over 100 associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degree programs.  With an enrollment of almost 1200 students on its Adrian campus and over 2300 students at all campuses, the University has a 12:1 student to faculty ratio and more than 100 full-time exceptional faculty.  The main campus in Adrian, Michigan is situated on 55 acres with 17 buildings and the University has satellite campuses in SouthfieldDearbornBenton HarborMonroeBattle CreekKalamazooLansingJackson, and online.
