University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) is seeking to hire its next chancellor. Founded in 1947 as Wilmington College, UNCW joined the UNC System in 1969. The university is committed to nurturing a campus culture that reflects its values of diversity and globalization; ethics and integrity; and excellence and innovation. More than 18,000 students attend UNCW, where nearly 2,500 faculty and staff members enhance the student-centered learning experience that has been a hallmark of the university since its founding. As a doctoral university with high research activity (R2), UNCW offers an array of programs at the baccalaureate and master’s levels, and doctoral programs in marine biology, educational leadership, psychology, nursing practice, and applied coastal and ocean sciences. The academic programs are housed in the Cameron School of Business, the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Health and Human Services, the Watson College of Education, and the Graduate School.

UNCW is one of 17 constituent institutions comprising the University of North Carolina System. This multi-campus university system is dedicated to serving the state of North Carolina and its people through world-class teaching, research and scholarship, and outreach and service. The chancellor reports to the UNC System President and is responsible for carrying out the policies of the UNCW Board of Trustees as well as the UNC System Board of Governors. 

Located in the charming coast city of Wilmington, UNCW’s campus is minutes from numerous beaches and the renowned downtown historic district, which borders the Cape Fear River. UNCW contributes to Wilmington’s vibrant art, literary, film and music scenes. Wilmington is home to EUE/Screen Gems Studios, a full-service studio lot, and serves as the location for several film and TV productions annually. Wilmington International Airport (ILM) – located six miles from main campus – provides commercial air service to cities both domestic and abroad.
