The Connecticut Board of Regents of Higher Education and the President of the Connecticut State College & Universities (CSCU) invite nominations and applications for the position of President of the Connecticut State Community College (CT State). The position is a new one within CSCU, and results from the consolidation of Connecticut's twelve community colleges into one singly accredited institution with the goal of sustaining and enhancing education quality, affordability, and accessibility.

CT State serves approximately 60,000 credit and non-credit students with an operating budget of more than $500 million. The President is expected to be a transformative leader, accountable for providing a strategic vision for the advancement of community college education in the state of Connecticut.

In coordination with the CSCU President, the CT State President must develop strong working relationships within the campuses and the surrounding communities, promote community college higher education, engage in statewide educational discussions, and build strong working relationships and partnerships with government, businesses, industry, and other educational institutions and organizations.

The CT State President is accountable for facilitating solutions for workforce development in a new economic era and providing access to a world class college education for an increasingly diverse and growing student population.  Ultimately, the CT State President will lead by example, fostering a culture that is student-centered and celebrates the diversity of the system while focusing on increased access for underrepresented students, improved outcomes for all students, and impact on the state’s economy through technical and professional readiness for the labor market.

The Board of Regents and CSCU President are seeking in its President an effective leader committed to ensuring the continued transformation and success of CT State. This individual will have the opportunity to achieve the following professional and personal accomplishments:

  • Lead a newly founded system of community colleges that is in the midst of a transformation designed to further enhance the delivery of high quality, affordable, accessible educational opportunities on a coordinated statewide basis.
  • Oversee a diverse mix of two-year campuses including rural, suburban and urban schools. Work directly with an outstanding cohort of Regional Presidents, who will assist him/her in communication with Campus CEOs all of whom are aligned with the achievement of the collective goals of CSCU and CT State.
  • Mentor and support a strong academic, student affairs, and administrative senior leadership team.
  • Join the CSCU's new president and be part of an exciting new generation of CSCU leadership serving on the President’s Cabinet and working alongside presidents from the four state universities and Charter Oak State College and system office executives.
  • Collaborate regularly with Connecticut’s top senior leaders in the public, private and civic sectors.
  • Build recognition as an acknowledged and transformative leader in the field of higher education and participate regularly in collaborative initiatives with top leaders within higher education and in the broader communities throughout Connecticut and the region.

The CT State President will reside and work in Connecticut, a state known for its rich quality of life, plethora of cultural options, science and technology strengths, and the diversity of its communities.
