University Librarian

West Chester University of Pennsylvania, located in West Chester, PA, invites nominations and applications for persons to serve as its University Librarian. The position will be available July 1, 2017.

The University Librarian is responsible for the administration of all library operations, including the acquisition, preparation, and accessibility of library materials; the availability of appropriate library services and facilities; and the planning and evaluation required to make these materials and services as best as possible for university students, faculty, staff, and the needs of the local and regional communities. The University Librarian reports to the Vice Provost and works effectively within an environment of distributed leadership. The Department of Library Services, the Francis Harvey Green Library, and the Presser Music Library fall under the University Librarian’s administrative responsibilities.

The University Librarian must hold a Master’s in Library Science or Master’s in Library Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution. He or she must also have a minimum of five years of successful, high-level experience and resulting expertise in leadership and management in a medium to large academic library.
