Our Contemporary Art Museum, Wilson Gallery, three professional theaters and two state of the art concert halls allow us to produce nearly 400 events each year, including concerts, performances, exhibitions, lectures, conferences, masterclasses, and festivals—all free of charge and open to the entire Tampa Bay community.  

 

Founded in 1986 as a graduate program, the USF School of Architecture & Community Design (SACD) was the first state school of architecture in Florida to be located in a major metropolitan center.  The SACD offers a Master of Architecture (MARCH) and a Master of Urban and Community Design (MUCD) degrees.  The school’s research arm, the Florida Center for Community Design and Research, pursues work in resiliency, community planning and design, housing and related interests.  The Florida Center is closely linked to both the MARCH and MUCD degrees.  The SACD is a 2+4 program enrolling approximately 270 undergraduate and graduate students.  Twelve full-time faculty are complimented by numerous adjunct faculty drawn for the robust architectural community in the growing metro Tampa Bay region.  The school maintains close ties to AIA Tampa Bay and the diverse professional community.

Our interdisciplinary ecosystem facilitates, prepares, and educates our students and faculty to become creative leaders in a global society as we engage and collaborate to create lasting positive impact. 

 

Position Summary:

The School of Architecture and Community Design at the University of South Florida in Tampa invites applications for a full-time tenure accruing position at the rank of assistant professor beginning in August of 2022.  The successful candidate will be required to maintain an active research/creative practice agenda and annually report on progress toward promotion and tenure.   Additionally, they will be expected to teach architectural design studios, offer seminars, lecture courses or workshops. An interest in architectural pedagogy and curriculum construction is desired for there is an opportunity to contribute to a new Bachelor’s Degree in Design in addition to the MARCH and Urban Design curricula. Responsibilities also include service to the school, college and university.

 

The SACD is part of the USF College of the Arts consisting of the schools of Art and Art History, Theater and Dance, and School of Music, in addition to the Contemporary Art Museum and Graphicstudio, an internationally renowned print and sculpture atelier.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidates should hold a terminal degree in architecture or equivalent professional experience. 
  • Candidates should have demonstrated architectural professional experience. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three years of demonstrated architectural professional experience
  • Teaching experience.
