Responsibilities:

This position will teach a 2:3 course load and will create and lead an undergraduate learning community focused on law and policy. We seek candidates who are enthusiastic about inspiring undergraduates to explore both domestic and international law and will work to create a supportive and inclusive community centered on the study of this discipline. This position will join a team committed to supporting Mason students in this area, including a faculty pre-law advisor, a student-led pre-law interest group, a professional undergraduate programs manager, two undergraduate advisors, and a faculty undergraduate curriculum director. The position will work with the programs manager to create an engaging schedule of workshops, discussion series, and field trips to support the professional development of Schar undergraduates; to recruit strong students to the Schar School; and to establish metrics by which to evaluate the quality and impact of programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have an earned JD, PhD, or other terminal degree in a relevant field including, but not limited to, public law, legal studies, public policy, public administration, or political science; teaching experience; and experience or demonstrated potential capacity for the following:
  • Commitment to mentoring students at the undergraduate level;
  • Demonstrated ability to generate enthusiasm and a sense of identity for a nascent group or organization; and
  • Research, scholarship, practitioner, or policy experience in the legal field.
