Chief Inclusion and Diversity Officer

Ithaca College (IC) in Ithaca, New York, seeks a visionary leader to be its inaugural Chief Inclusion and Diversity Officer (CIDO). The CIDO will lead and develop a comprehensive strategic plan for diversity and inclusive excellence and will serve as a key member of the President's Cabinet. The CIDO will be a proactive and relentless collaborator in the development and implementation of organizational strategies focused on ensuring equity, inclusion, and respect at the College. The CIDO will be a key partner of Ithaca College's vice presidents and the College's principal advisor on inclusion and diversity efforts. The CIDO will report administratively to the Provost and Vice President for Educational Affairs and the Vice President for Human Resources and Chief Human Resource Officer.

Galvanizing the energy that exists among students, staff, faculty, external constituencies, and the IC Board of Trustees, the CIDO will advance a culture committed to achieving inclusive excellence and cultural proficiency. The CIDO will seek out and create opportunities to advocate for the advancement of a diverse, inclusive, and equitable work and learning environment. The CIDO and the Office of Inclusion and Diversity will be the hub for communicating a comprehensive plan for diversity and inclusion programming and policies. The CIDO will be a tireless supporter, collaborator, convener, and educator to the multitude of distributed groups who are advancing IC toward its inclusive excellence objectives. The CIDO should be one of the most recognizable faces on campus as the work of the Office of Inclusion and Diversity seeks to impact every aspect of campus life.

The successful candidate will need to combine his/her skill in developing strategy with the desire and drive to implement and advance initiatives through completion. The CIDO will need to be skilled at persuasion and leading through influence. Given the work that is already being done at Ithaca College around diversity and inclusion the successful candidate will need to assess and evaluate how this role and office can assist existing initiatives and partners, add additional value to their work, and leverage their energy for greater impact. Candidates should also have a graduate degree and at least 10 years of experience as a senior organizational leader guiding and facilitating large-scale diversity, equity, access, and inclusion efforts, preferably at an institution of higher education.
