Located in the heart of Greenwich Village in New York City, the College of Arts and Science (CAS) is housed within the Faculty of Arts and Science (FAS), the curricular and intellectual core, and the largest academic unit of the University. CAS currently enrolls 7,030 undergraduate students and provides an undergraduate liberal arts education through its Core Curriculum; the school’s 30 departments offer 66 majors, a host of accelerated Bachelor’s-Master’s and pre-professional programs, and 60 minors. Students many enroll in courses at NYU’s 13 global academic centers, including the two portal campuses in Abu Dhabi and Shanghai; they may also choose 40 cross-school minors at other schools within NYU.

The CAS Dean is also a member of the FAS cabinet, which is chaired by the Dean of FAS and includes the Divisional Deans of science, humanities, and social sciences, the Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Science, and the Dean of Liberal Studies.

The CAS Dean will guide all undergraduate-level aspects of CAS departments and programs. The Dean will provide innovative vision and leadership for setting academic standards and policies, for allocating resources including financial aid, and for developing academic programs. This Dean's responsibilities also include collaboration with other NYU schools in New York, the global academic centers, and the portal campuses.
