Food Safety Educator - Vegetable & Fruit Production
The Food Safety Educator will identify vegetable and fruit producers who fall under the FMSA regulation and cooperating with local county agents compile a list that will be shared with the Arkansas Agriculture Department. The purpose of this list is to continue contact with producers throughout the program.
This position will cooperate with specialists, county agents, administrators, horticulturists, economists, and food scientists within the Division of Agriculture and outside the Division. During the second year, the position will work with the 1890 Extension Service to provide programs for small and socially disadvantaged farmers.
The Educator will train county agents and producers on the food safety rule through meetings and web-based presentations.
This position will plan and conduct both agents and producer meetings.
Production of educational material including extension publications is expected.
This position will plan, evaluate, and report the effectiveness of the educational program.
Req: A Master’s degree in horticulture, food science, food microbiology, food safety, or closely related discipline is required.
