General Summary of Position:

The Department of Psychology at the University of Massachusetts Lowell (UMass Lowell) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Behavior Analysis. This is a full-time nine-month position to begin September 2022.

We welcome applicants who have expertise in developing and studying behavioral interventions that prevent psychosocial problems and promote education, health, and wellbeing. We are especially interested in applicants whose work emphasizes the design, implementation, evaluation, and/or dissemination of behaviorally oriented prevention/intervention, such as research programs related to: (a) autism spectrum disorder and other neurodiverse populations (i.e., ADHD) (b) staff training for service providers; (c) educational and treatment service disparities focused on promoting equity, (d) the needs of underrepresented and underserved populations, (e) community-based approaches to prevention and promotion, and/or (f) promoting health-related behaviors to prevent disease.

Responsibilities involve maintaining an active program of research, including pursuit of external funding, teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses, supervising theses/dissertations, and engaging in departmental and university service.

The Department of Psychology is one of the largest academic units on campus, with an on-campus and online B.A., two master's programs (Community Social Psychology and Applied Behavior Analysis and Autism Studies), and a doctoral program in Applied Psychology and Prevention Science. Psychology is one of 12 departments in the University’s College of Fine Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (FAHSS). The College has seen significant growth in recent years, including hiring over 90 new faculty, a 70% growth in funded research expenditures, and the addition of several new interdisciplinary graduate programs.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Applicants must hold a PhD in Psychology or related area at time of hire
  • Candidates also must be Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs®) and have experience in clinical training and supervision of graduate students.
