Eastern Illinois University is seeking a strategic and innovative academic leader to serve as its chief academic officer. The Provost will join President David Glassman’s leadership team and, together with the faculty, guide the University in excellence and growth. The Provost will also work collaboratively with the deans of five colleges, the Graduate School, School of Continuing Education, and other major administrative units to further enhance the institution’s brand of academic excellence, which is based on individualized attention to students and a commitment to liberal arts and professional programs of distinction.

The new Provost will be experienced in leading an organization ready for change and will have an entrepreneurial vision for EIU’s potential to enter new markets and expand its enrollment base. She/he will be an approachable leader with an inclusive and collaborative leadership style and a demonstrated commitment to shared governance and communication with various University constituents. Familiarity with a collective bargaining environment will be important for the Provost’s success as a leader at EIU. The Provost must be inherently optimistic and positive and have the political instincts to work effectively with elected officials in the state.
