Director, The McDermond Center for Management and Entrepreneurship

DePauw University has retained Witt/Kieffer to assist with its recruitment of the new Director of The McDermond Center for Management and Entrepreneurship.  This is a high impact role for an entrepreneurial and innovative professional who brings a vision of entrepreneurship, leadership, and management.  Under the new Director, the McDermond Center will emerge as a source of intellectual energy on campus and a beacon for discussions on the practice of business leadership and entrepreneurship.

Reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, the new Director of the McDermond Center will be responsible for developing one of the nation's finest undergraduate programs in business leadership and entrepreneurial preparation within a liberal arts setting.  S/he will build and cultivate supportive programming within the McDermond Center to provide guidance and connectivity to those students presenting entrepreneurial ideas and/or those students with interest in complementing their liberal arts foundation with management and entrepreneurial insights.  The Director will invigorate the McDermond Center’s programs and resources emphasizing availability to students of all disciplines and opening the door to the world of entrepreneurship, leadership, and management. Under the Director, students who might not have considered entrepreneurial or management endeavors will be inspired to explore their career ideas and make them real.  

While candidates may come from diverse backgrounds in academia/business/other industry sectors, the ideal candidate will have a rich understanding of the mission, culture, and objectives of a liberal arts college combined with the commitment to the value of liberal arts in spurring entrepreneurship; a track record of successful management of an academic center, career services department, small business, social enterprise or other entity; a commitment to collaborative work and demonstrated entrepreneurship.   Commitment to serving students and working with diverse stakeholders in an academic setting is required.  PhD, terminal degree or MBA preferred.
