The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater College of Arts and Communication is seeking a full-time (academic year), tenure-track faculty member who will have a 100 percent appointment in the Communication Department. The successful candidate will demonstrate ability to teach courses including, but not limited to, introduction to media planning and buying, copywriting, and advertising campaigns. Other course areas may include foundations of advertising, advertising and PR research literacy, ad copywriting and layout, media ethics, and other areas of candidate specialization. Preference will be given to candidates who also demonstrate the ability to teach cross cultural communication.
 
JOB DETAILS:
The successful candidate will teach four courses per semester in the department's undergraduate and/or graduate programs, and have opportunities to contribute to curricular revision to reflect the latest trends in the field, and to propose and teach advertising courses in areas of the candidate's particular expertise. Excellence in teaching; commitment to an advertising research agenda; and a willingness to participate in academic advising and other university service are expected. The department embraces a diversity of research methodologies.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
PhD in Advertising or Strategic Communication (ABD will be considered with expectation of completion by 8/23/2017). 
Demonstrate ability to develop and teach advertising courses. 
Demonstrate potential to pursue a rigorous program of research. 
Contribute service to the department, the college, the university, and the community.

HIGHLY DESIRED:
Previous teaching experience.  
Professional experience in the area of advertising.  
Willingness to provide practitioner guidance to the campus newspaper's advertising staff.  Ability to teach Cross Cultural Communication and/or sports communication/sports journalism.

The Department of Communication is the largest department in the College of Arts and Communication and one of the largest at the University. The department serves more than 600 students who major in one of our seven emphases: Advertising, Broadcast/Print/Web Journalism, Corporate and Health Communication, Electronic Media, International Journalism, Media Arts and Game Development, and Public Relations.
