Founded in 1935, Hofstra University is a private, non-sectarian, coeducational institution located 25 miles east of New York City in Hempstead, New York. Reporting to the Director of Business Affairs, the Director of Procurement Services oversees and directs the University’s procurement functions. The Director supervises and coordinates staff and provides oversight and review for all purchasing, bidding, contract negotiations, and contract preparation while ensuring compliance with University policy and external regulations. In addition, the Director provides service to departments to ensure timely purchasing and delivery of items; coordinates bidding and selection for major commodities, service and project contracts; explores new sourcing opportunities in order to provide the best value and alternatives for the University; develops strategic purchasing programs; and manages vendor relations. The Director of Procurement Services supervises the Director of Purchasing Contracts, the Senior Procurement Agent, and the Purchasing Agent.

Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree and at least ten years of purchasing and contract experience. The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills; the ability to negotiate with vendors and establish strong ties with the campus community; and proficiency with automated purchasing systems. Experience with Banner or similar ERP platforms is preferred.
