President

Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania - one of the 14 members of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education - invites applications and nominations for the position of president.

Bloomsburg University is a thriving, top-ranked, student-centered master’s institution of 9,658 students located on a beautiful 366-acre campus along the Susquehanna River in the Town of Bloomsburg in the north-central portion of Pennsylvania. Committed to providing high-quality, affordable, and innovative programs, Bloomsburg’s strong financial position and the success of its $50 million It’s Personal Campaign has created scholarships and other opportunities benefitting students and faculty.  Its excellence is recognized by inclusion in Money magazine’s “Best Colleges for your Money”-top four-year colleges, Educate to Career and U.S. News and World Report’s annual ranking.  Bloomsburg’s next president will succeed Dr. David L. Soltz who will retire on June 30, 2017 after nine years of exceptional presidential leadership.

The university is seeking a highly visible engaged, experienced and inspiring academic leader with the vision and leadership qualities to build upon the institution’s reputation and take it to even higher levels of excellence and student success.  The exceptionally qualified and committed faculty and staff are proud of Bloomsburg’s accomplishments, providing students with transformative academic and life experiences.

The new president will convey a passion for the mission of public education and understand the important social and economic roles it plays in the region and state. More importantly, the new president will embrace, embody and champion the values, culture and spirit of this distinctive university with a willingness to passionately communicate Bloomsburg’s unique strengths and priorities.  The ability to articulate the institution’s values will serve the president well as an advocate for the university at the state level and as a fundraiser with the university’s many and broadly based constituents.

Bloomsburg’s next president will have the opportunity to lead one of the most respected public universities in Pennsylvania towards higher levels of success and distinction, work directly with a seasoned and high-performing senior leadership team, partner with a dedicated faculty and staff, and be an active and influential member of the external community with the ability to meaningfully impact the continued success of the region.
