Job Description
Job Summary:
The Director of Annual Fund and Leadership Giving will provide leadership, direction and management for annual giving programs and leadership giving initiatives, to include alumni annual fund, faculty/staff campaign, senior giving and other targeted annual giving initiatives. The Director will develop and implement a gift club program for annual donors and will facilitate leadership giving (prospects capable of giving up to $10,000) intended to increase giving levels among a wide range of constituents.
Job Duties:
- Provides strategic direction for the University’s annual fund campaigns (gifts under $5,000 from alumni, retirees, faculty/staff, recent grads and others) in order to raise funds and increase participation through various campaigns and activities
- Develops and implements leadership giving programs and gift clubs designed to increase giving levels
- Directs the qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for a small portfolio of individual prospects in collaboration with development colleagues
- Provides direction for annual fund materials for a range of campaigns and initiatives to include appeal letters, acknowledgments, planned giving messages, stewardship, email, social media and webpages
- Builds partnerships with University of Houston System annual fund and advancement services colleagues in order to successfully execute campaigns
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the principles and practices associated with annual fund and with varied solicitation methods (direct mail, phone, online, social media)
- Strong marketing and communication skills to develop new, creative annual giving programs
- Proficiency using data to drive annual fund and leadership giving strategy and increase key performance metrics
- Ability to interact with a variety of constituents through polished oral, written, telephone, and e-mail communication
- Able to work independently to meet deadlines in a time-sensitive environment with attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent interpersonal skills and skills interacting professionally with culturally diverse staff and faculty, alumni and students
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required
Experience:
Requires 3 years of experience in development, preferably with experience in annual giving programs
