Pratt Institute, a premier independent college of art, design, architecture, liberal arts, and information studies, seeks a visionary academic leader to serve as its next provost. This is an exciting time for an inspired academic administrator to advance the institution’s educational mission and reputation throughout the region and across the globe in collaboration with an exceptional faculty, staff, and student body. One of the largest colleges of art and design in the world, Pratt Institute has been ranked in the top ten of the 2021 QS World University Rankings. Its distinguished faculty and alumni include some of the most renowned artists, designers, and scholars in their fields. In over 75 countries, Pratt’s 61,000 alumni are advancing the creative economy and making a positive impact through their remarkable work. 

 

Notable for its reputation in the creative industries, and its vibrant, visible presence in New York’s art, design, and cultural landscape, Pratt students are part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary, research- and inquiry-based education that prepares them for professional and personal success with the goal of contributing to a more just and sustainable world. Pratt offers nearly 50 undergraduate and graduate degree programs at the associate, baccalaureate, and master’s degree levels and enrolls over 5,000 undergraduate and graduate students across two campuses: a 25-acre main campus in the historic Clinton Hill district of Brooklyn and the Pratt Manhattan Center in Chelsea. Additionally, an upstate extension campus, PrattMWP College of Art and Design, is located in Utica, New York.

 

Qualifications include: a terminal degree in art, design, architecture, or in a liberal arts and sciences discipline with experience demonstrating a broad knowledge of these fields; significant higher education administrative experience and a record of teaching and artistic practice or scholarly research; substantial experience in furthering academic growth in creative fields that supports student success; and a demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture. The successful candidate will be a thought leader for creative practice with a proven ability to guide a premier institution and to champion and catalyze an academic vision for diverse internal and external constituencies locally, nationally, and globally.
