Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering

The Helen and John C. Hartmann Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant/Associate or Full Professor level in the areas of (1) Energy and power systems including grid resilience, microgrid, renewable energy integration, power system analysis and operation, complex networks, and systems theory, power electronics and wireless power transfer, electric machines, electrified transportation, and cyber-physical systems. (2) Computer engineering including secure hardware design; security and privacy in cyber-physical systems and the Internet of Things; network intelligence/adaptability and artificial intelligence on edge; Neuromorphic Computing; Quantum Computing; low-power and high-performance deep learning hardware; security and hardware for artificial intelligence; computational biology and energy harvesting edge devices/hardware with applications to health. (3) Circuits and system design including analog, mixed-signal design, RF and THz, automotive electronics, emerging circuit design, IoT, beyond 5G, and cyber-physical systems, quantum systems, electronic design automation for embedded design, and machine learning in EDA. Outstanding candidates in other fields of research synergistic to ongoing research and new initiatives will also be considered.

ECE with 27 tenured/tenure-track faculty is a one of the most research active departments at NJIT with annual research expenditure exceeding $5M. Research thrust areas include contemporary electrical and computer engineering, including photonics, nano and quantum materials and devices; communication, signal processing and machine intelligence; energy, power system and sustainability; computer systems and networking; robotics, intelligent systems, data engineering in addition to information theory, computer architecture, embedded systems, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and bio-systems and are funded by NSF, USDOD, USDOE, USNIH, industry and private foundations, among others. The department offers bachelor, masters and doctoral programs serving about 900 students. ECE offers BS, MS and PhD in Electrical Engineering and in Computer Engineering.

NJIT is among the top 100 "Best Graduate Engineering Schools" (per U.S. News & World Report). It offers a vibrant engineering community environment and exciting opportunities for research and education. Universities, research institutes and industrial facilities in the vicinity of NJIT further increase collaboration opportunities and access to experimental equipment.
