AN INVITATION TO APPLY

DEAN, ALLEN W. AND CAROL M. SCHMIDTHORST COLLEGE OF BUSINESS

BOWLING GREEN STATE UNIVERSITY

BOWLING GREEN, OHIO

Bowling Green State University (BGSU), a doctoral/high-research public university in northwest Ohio, seeks a visionary and entrepreneurial Dean to lead the Allen W. and Carol M. Schmidthorst College of Business (“Schmidthorst” or “the College”). This is an exceptional opportunity for a creative and collaborative leader to build on a very strong foundation. In 2020, Schmidthorst became the first endowed college at BGSU, and the beautiful new Robert W. and Patricia A. Maurer Center opened in fall 2020 to house business education at the University. The next Dean will leverage this momentum, harness the excitement surrounding these seminal events, and drive the College’s next chapter.

BGSU embraces its role as a public university, acting in the public interest to create public good, and intentionally preparing students for life after graduation. Through excellence in teaching, research, and outreach, BGSU builds a collaborative, diverse, and inclusive community where creative ideas, new knowledge, and entrepreneurial achievements benefit others in the region, the state of Ohio, the nation, and the world. BGSU is emerging from the global pandemic in a strong position, with student enrollment poised to exceed pre-pandemic levels, and the University’s leadership continues to move BGSU forward with a commitment to serve both traditional and post-traditional students.

Accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the Schmidthorst College of Business educates and develops tomorrow’s business professionals through a student-centric approach while creating impactful research, and serving local, regional, national, and global communities. The College enrolls nearly 2,500 students; approximately two-thirds are undergraduate students and one-third are graduate students. More than 100 full-time and part-time faculty teach and conduct research across six academic departments. Alumni of the College work in senior-level roles across many industries.

BGSU seeks candidates with demonstrated abilities to develop a clear and compelling vision for the College’s future that generates enrollment growth; to prioritize, embrace, and promote diversity and inclusion; to foster excellence in teaching and research; to effectively engage with alumni and external communities; to be an effective fundraiser; to strengthen ties with the local, regional and national business communities; and to advocate for the College and collaborate with partners across the University. The successful candidate will have exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills and bring significant senior leadership and administrative experience, preferably in higher education or a complex organization, as well as the ability to engage and inspire faculty, staff, students, the BGSU community, and external constituents around the vision and mission of the College.
