Position Summary

Precision Health Program (PHP) at Michigan State University has an opening for a postdoctoral fellow position in the area of cancer biology in application to the role of non-coding RNAs and their connection to cancer stem cells. Successful candidate will be part of vigorous program performing cutting edge research in the area of nanooncology focusing on fast growing and metastatic cancers and development of novel image-guided therapies.

 

Specifically, the successful applicant will be expected to:

  1. Perform studies establishing connections between oncogenic miRNA and cancer stem cells and their role in cancer initiation and progression;
  2. Investigate pathways and modulators of these connection and devise strategies to regulate them to arrest/regress tumor growth;
  3. Collaborate with other members of the program and participate in team work towards devising image-guided therapies;
  4. Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in the lab.

This position is a 12-month fixed-term appointment. Renewal of position is based on funding and performance.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Biology/Chemistry/Biomedical Sciences

 

Minimum Requirements

  • PhD or equivalent degree in Biology, Chemistry, or Biomedical Sciences

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Candidates with a background in stem cell biology or similar experience are welcome to apply. 
  • Experience with in vivo animal imaging is an advantage.
