Assistant/Associate Professor, Computing Technology - Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science

Job Summary:

The Department of Computing Technology in the School of Computer Science at Marist College invites applications for a tenure-track position in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank to begin in the Fall of 2022 or the Spring of 2022 for early applicants.   The Department of Computing Technology’s academic mission is enriched by an inclusive community in which diverse perspectives are respected and valued. This position is part of a cluster hire, as we will welcome three new faculty members in the Department of Computing Technology: two tenure-track positions with specialization in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity respectively, and a professional lecturer of computing technology.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must have a doctoral degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science or a closely related field. We will consider ABDs in an appropriate field who will complete their dissertation within one year of hire. Evidence of excellence in teaching and scholarly work is required. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. As our programs host a diverse population, the proven ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment is highly regarded.  

 

Essential Functions:

Applicants should have the ability to teach in multiple areas, but we welcome candidates who have teaching and research interests in artificial intelligence and can help develop new curricula in AI. 

 

Applicants must be willing to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in both traditional on-ground, online or hybrid environments. 

 

Required duties besides teaching and research include engagement in college and professional services such as advising/mentoring students, serving on department, school, or college committees

 

Preferred Qualifications:

We seek candidates working in several areas of AI, including, but not limited to, machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and robotics.  In addition to basic research, candidates with interdisciplinary research programs in applied areas of Artificial Intelligence and Data Sciences are encouraged to apply. Candidates with a robust track record of publications and/or the potential to develop a strong research agenda will receive preference.
