Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer

The University System of Georgia (USG) seeks an innovative and proven academic leader to serve as the next Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer (EVC/CAO).  With the System Office located in Atlanta, USG is the third largest university system in the United States, enrolls more than 310,000 students, employs more than 40,000 faculty and staff, and has a combined annual operating budget among all 28 institutions in the System of more than $6 billion.  Working across this large statewide system, the EVC/CAO will address the academic needs of the System and the campuses to further enhance the academic profile of USG and the state’s public higher education offerings.

Reporting to the Chancellor, the EVC/CAO works closely with the System’s leadership team to initiate and promote the System’s commitment to excellence in education and research.  Through the creation of policies and collaborative work, the EVC/CAO advises and provides leadership on all academic-related areas to the members of the System; identifies and reviews solutions for the USG strategic plan; and supports several special initiatives designed to enhance the quality of education, research and the student experience in Georgia.  The next EVC/CAO will be a key leader in the System’s annual strategic planning effort. 

The EVC/CAO will lead the multi-faceted Academic Affairs Division and have responsibility for a range of areas including Complete College Georgia, New Learning Models, academic programs and planning, faculty affairs, student affairs, international programs, teacher education initiatives, military affairs, Georgia Archives, Georgia Public Libraries, and GALILEO.  Through collaboration with the System campuses, this individual will seek to add value to the overall academic enterprise.
