Vice President for Finance and Treasurer

The University of Delaware seeks an experienced, collaborative and dynamic leader to serve as the Vice President for Finance and Treasurer.

A research-intensive, technologically advanced university with global impact, the University of Delaware traces its roots to the founding of a small private academy in 1743. The University received its charter from the State of Delaware in 1833 and was designated in 1867 as one of the nation’s historic Land Grant colleges.

The University offers a broad range of degree programs (three associate programs, 150 bachelor’s programs, 140 master’s programs and 60 doctoral programs) through its nine colleges: Agriculture and Natural Resources; Arts and Sciences; Earth, Ocean and Environment; Education and Human Development; Engineering; Health Sciences; Graduate College; Honors College; the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics and the Biden School of Public Policy and Administration.

Reporting to the Executive Vice President, the Vice President for Finance and Treasurer (“VP”) will provide strategic senior leadership for the financial operations of the university, working closely with the Vice President for Strategic Planning and Analysis and the budget office, with direct oversight for the Controller, Treasury, Procurement, Risk Management, Auxiliary Services, and Accounting. The Vice President for Finance and Treasurer manages professional staff members, in addition to managing contractual relationships with external service providers. The Vice President for Finance and Treasurer plays a central role in the short-term and long-term development of the University’s infrastructure, and will identify and advise strategic financial goals, and implement long term plans in support of these goals.

The VP will act as a strategic advisor and work closely with the President, other university leaders and the Board of Trustees to advance the University’s mission, vision, and values. Serving as an institutional catalyst, the VP will stimulate sound financial management, accounting and procurement practices across the organization that support both change and the achievement of the strategic and financial objectives of the University. As an institutional leader, the Vice President for Finance and Treasurer will oversee efficiencies and proper disciplines to assure best financial practices across the University.

The successful candidate will possess significant, demonstrable financial leadership experience, ideally in higher education, with experience managing complex and diverse teams across financial operations. A bachelor’s degree is required.

Nominations and expressions of interest will be received until a list of candidates is put forward for final consideration. Review of applications will begin immediately. Applications and nominations should be submitted directly to Korn Ferry. Applicants should submit a resume and cover, addressing the responsibilities above, electronically to UD-VPFT@kornferry.com
