Design for Health, Assistant or Associate Professor
The College of Architecture (CoA) at Texas Tech University invites candidates to apply for a fulltime tenure-track/tenured position in Design for Health at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The position is located in Lubbock, TX and has a nine-month duty period, from approximately September 1 to May 31 each year.

The CoA (https://www.depts.ttu.edu/architecture/) currently enrolls over 800 architecture students and has a reputation for producing technically trained, high performing architects, who understand the culture of design. In 2019, the CoA was #10 on Design Intelligence’s Most Hired From list. Our mission is to advance the knowledge, discipline, and practice of architecture through innovation, creative teaching, research, regional and global engagement, and scholarship. In support for this, the Lubbock campus offers four degrees: B.S. in Architecture, M.Arch, M.S. and Ph.D. The CoA also has a campus in El Paso, Texas, making the CoA the only college of architecture with a permanent program on the US/Mexico border. The El Paso campus offers a B.S. in Architecture, border issues forming a fundamental aspect of that program. The CoA is also globally engaged with a semester abroad program in Seville, Spain as well as study abroad programs and studios located in various international cities.

The College of Architecture at Texas Tech University seeks energetic applicants for the position of tenure-track/tenured Assistant/Associate Professor of Design for Health. The successful candidate must be qualified to conduct research in design and health and be able to teach both elective courses and studios at graduate and undergraduate levels in their area of expertise. It is expected that the new faculty member will also teach in the CoA core curriculum. The new faculty member will additionally be expected to significantly engage in pursuing externally funded research, generate scholarship, and serve on college and university committees.
Suitable applicants may be specialized in areas such as healthcare design, design and public health, research on design of healthcare architecture, design and health humanities, design and disability, or other areas that contribute to related intellectual and professional advances in design.
At the CoA, all tenured/tenure track faculty engage in teaching, research and creative activity, and service. As a college located in a R1 university, candidates are expected to establish and maintain a strong research agenda, while also teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, which may include lectures, design studios, and seminars in their area of expertise. CoA faculty are expected to contribute directly to the enhancement and expansion of Texas Tech University's research and creative scholarship, to advance their disciplines and the state of the art. Selected candidates will be joining CoA and Texas Tech University during a growth phase and a period of major opportunities for our faculty. Anticipated Start Date: September 1, 2022

- Professional degree in architecture and a Post-Professional degree in Architecture or an allied field (e.g., planning, landscape architecture, interior architecture, public health, etc.)
- Demonstrated teaching experience in architectural design studio
- Demonstrated teaching experience in lecture/seminar in the area of expertise
- Demonstrated experience in research and/or creative scholarship
- Demonstrated experience, or strong promise for working with underrepresented groups; or record of or strong promise towards work related to the issues of social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion; or demonstrated work trajectory informed by experiences in multiple cultural environments
- PhD in health-related design area
- Foreign language ability
- Demonstrated experience in professional practice, esp. healthcare design or design for health
- Evidence of teaching in health-related topics
- Evidence of research in health-related design
- Demonstrated experience in funded research, esp. health-related
