Qualifications: Applications are invited for a tenure-track/tenured position in APPLIED
DISCRETE MATHEMATICS at full professor level, beginning August 1, 2017. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in mathematics and must provide evidence of excellence in teaching, research, and service. The candidate must demonstrate success in teaching a broad range of mathematics courses to a diverse body of students and engaging undergraduates in research. A record of success in obtaining external funding and academic administration is required, as is demonstrated expertise in program assessment. Demonstrated interest in outreach to High Schools and Interdisciplinary collaboration is required. Candidates with strong computational backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Background Check: A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.

Mandated Reporter: The person holding this position is considered a "mandated reporter" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

Teaching/Research: The teaching load is 12 semester units where most of the courses are 4 units each.
Almost all courses in the Department of Mathematics include an activity/problem solving session. Assigned time for research and grant activity is available during the first two years of appointment, and subsequently on a competitive basis. It is expected the successful candidate will maintain a research agenda and a publication
record.

School Information: The School of Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Engineering currently houses seven

Department Information: The Department of Mathematics currently consists of twelve full-time
faculty including two lecturers. The department offers a BS degree in Mathematics with the
