Assistant Professor

Position Number 00050341. The Sociology Department at Southern Methodist University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 2022. We seek candidates with primary research and teaching interests in economic sociology and/or the organization of work. Associated or supplemental emphasis in global/international economic dynamics or financialization are of interest, but not required. The successful applicant will have an ambitious research program and excellent teaching skills. The position offers a teaching load of two courses each semester. In addition to Sociology courses, applicants will teach core courses in, and have an opportunity to contribute to the continued development of an interdisciplinary undergraduate Markets and Culture major that is managed by the Sociology Department. A strong commitment to inclusive teaching and mentoring with our diverse undergraduate students is essential.
